Dr. Maria Montessori was born on 31st August,1870 at Chiaravalle in the province of Ancona, Italy. She was a trained psychologist, gynaecologist and educationist. It is she who created a scientific method of teaching called the "Montessori" method which combines philosophy with practical approach.

Dr. Montessori felt, that the goal of early childhood education should not be to fill the child with facts from a pre-selected course of studies but rather to cultivate the child's own natural desire to learn by providing him/her with an environment which is full of challenges. Dr. Montessori's particular cause was to help children to learn to live together in harmony........a positive force for good which would last into adult life.

    She said : -
"We know how to find pearls in the shells of oysters,
gold in the mountains and coal in the bowels of the earth.
but we are unaware of the spiritual gems, the creative nebulae,
that the child hides in himself
when he enters this world to review mankind."
